LANDFILL

Ross Weeks - North Dakota - September 3rd, 2025

This giant 8 pointer was one of the first shooters to show up on camera for us this year in North Dakota.  We decided to call him "Landfill"..reference comes from Kevin Heffernan in the movie Beerfest. This particular buck was proving that he wasn't afraid to move in daylight.  Only problem was, we needed an east or northeast wind to hunt him safely.  Luckily, we got the wind to hunt him on opening day.  Mike slipped in and gave the spot a sit.  Although he saw a pile of deer, "Landfill" never showed up.  With bad winds, the spot would sit vacant for the next 4 days.  Of course, the buck showed up multiple times during those days when we were unable to hunt it.  On the night of September 3rd, we would get another wind to slip in there.  Mike had to head home, so now it would be Ross up to bat.  With cooler temps, deer were on their feet early.  "Landfill" appeared out of nowhere in the CRP and he came on a string!  Ross made a good shot and the giant buck only went about 80 yards before falling over.  An absolute beast of an 8 pointer that taped right at 160"!
