The story of “Jumper” came to an exciting end on Sunday evening. I’ve been keeping tabs on this deer since 2023 when I guessed him to be 3.5 years old. In ‘23 and ‘24 he was a very impressive 7x5 but I knew he needed age. In 2025 he threw a 6x6 rack and looked like he was “1 year away.” Luckily, I was distracted by hunting “Popeye,” and he slid through the cracks. When he showed up on the cameras this summer, I almost couldn’t believe it was him as he lost the extra points and was now the biggest main frame 8 I’d ever hunted. In true “Jumper” fashion he lived on the farm all summer only to disappear in late August. When he showed back up the day before early muzzleloader season I knew I had a small window before he’d vanish again. On sit #2, it happened! Huge shout to everyone that played a part in the story, and I can’t wait to share it with you all. He is quite possibly the largest 8pt I will chase in my lifetime.
